The Durlston Head to Rame Head SMP2
In the first round of shoreline management plans, (now known as SMP1) the South Devon and Dorset Coastal Advisory Group (SDADCAG) did not exist within its current boundaries. The main coastal group (from Portland Bill to Rame Head) was known as the Lyme Bay and South Devon Coastline Group. The smaller group was known as the Durlston Head to Portland Bill Shoreline Management Plan Group. Therefore within the group's current boundary 2 shoreline management Plans were produced for:

. Durlston Head to Portland Bill (Sub-cell 5g)
            . Portland Bill to Rame Head (Sub-cells 6a, 6b & 6c)
After considering the Defra shoreline management recommendations, included in its Interim Guidance for SMP2 and the economic scale benefits which would be achieved, Purbeck District Council joined the other authorities who were already members of the Lyme Bay and South Devon Coastline Group, so as to deliver one combined Review.  This prompted a a name change to the South Devon and Dorset Coastal Advisory Group (SDADCAG).  The combining of these 2 plans, within this SMP2 round, now sees the SMP2 Review covering a distance of some 308 km (191 miles).
